... is an artist’s book, formulated from a feminine world view and put together in the shape of a picture story, which Marianne Maderna has fabricated, as both trickster and juggler, meandering through a most variegated set of media. It’s an unconventionally alive principle, and one that contrasts starkly with conventional power constructs, that can be seen wending its way lightly as a thematic leitmotif through the groups of the artist’s works on display in these pages. Her sculptures, drawings, photographs, videos and spatial installations are the players in a process resembling the World Theatre, into which Marianne Maderna repeatedly inserts herself as “The Other Person” and “The Performer” or where she acts out the role of “The Mediator on the Art Platform.”
Scholars from various disciplines pick up on the different thematic strands of the picture stories, interweaving them into an interdisciplinary network of contemporary questions and investigations, insights, answers and inspiring ideas, all formulated from feminine view point.
